Creating a Daily Habit Log
In today’s Marketing & Mindset Video Tip I’d like to talk about creating a Daily Habit Log. What do I mean by this?
For many of us, we often struggle doing new things. For example, getting on a diet, blogging weekly, following up with people, etc. And this can be a challenge because these things we want to take on have not become a habit.
We are driven mostly on a day-to-day basis by our automatic way of Being. These are pre-programmed ways of doing things that we do day in and day out. For example, brushing our teeth and tying our shoes are automatic to us. We don’t have to think about it. These are just habits that we’ve established after doing them over and over again. No thought process – really – is involved.
When we are taking on new things that are NOT a habit, it’s a challenge; because we need to shift it from being something that takes some effort, time, and thought into something that becomes automatic.
That’s where we want to get to with certain things in our business; that you want to make a regular habit.
The only way to create a habit is to:
- Do it regularly
- Be very conscious of it
- Put a system in place that “forces” you to do it
For me it’s creating a daily log with those 2-3 habits that I’m working on at that particular time, that you can really focus on. I wouldn’t recommend more than this as it may become overwhelming. Ultimately you want it to go from being something that is a challenge to something that becomes second nature. Once you’ve mastered and succeeded in doing so with that particular “task,” then you can move onto another habit you’d like to create.
Create a Daily Habit Log. Pick 2-3 things you’d like to work on in creating a habit out of. EVERY single day, check off those habits you are working on as you complete them. Do this for at least a month before moving onto any new habits you’d like to create.
